I think you should be more specific with your posts.
If you're looking into buying one, the 8800gt is faster than the 9600, but it's also more expensive. The preliminary tests put the 9600 on par with the ATi 3850.I have a bunch of computers, they fold. Yours should too!

It seems like the 8800gt is still better than the 9600GT, but the prices for 9600gt are a little unknown... they're predicted to be 169 to 189, and since 8800gt are about 200 now, I think a 8800gt is a better buy.

9600GT will be cheaper but slightly worse in performance versus the 8800GT. However, some predictions are that the 9600GT will be priced ~150. Whether this holds true or not, we'll need more time to confirm that.- - M a i n R i g - -
