    awsome salad recipes?

    well..i was just craving some salad, since i moved out of my parents house a few month ago. Ive been doing my own thing and hardly eating any..then earlier today i bought some chicken salad and its not so great..soo i searched google and naturally tons of diff recipes came up for every kind of salad you can imagine, but who knows which are the best! so i figured id start this thread and maybe some members could share some family secrets :P

    My wife and I have been enjoying Romane lettuce, diced celery, cucumbers, tiny cheese cubes, tomato, crutons, and Paul Newmans Oil and Vinegar dressing.

    This dressing isn't like your typical oil and vinegar combo. Has a little zing to it, but very smooth. We could eat this salad every day practically.

    Spicy Vegetarian chicken salad.

    Ingredients:
    Romaine Lettuce
    Carrots
    Red Cabbage
    Small portion of peppers
    cucumber
    and whatever other veggie you want in there

    Vegetarian chicken(can be replaced with regular(DUH))

    Cut the chicken into strips and grill/fry them until golden brown, then add a hot sauce of your choice. Cook for 2 or 4 minutes longer, add to salad bowl with other ingredients, put italian dressing on top, waalah.

    Lettuce, cherry tomatos, few pieces of hard boiled egg, a small bit of dutch cheese in block form, blue cheese dressing, maybe small pieces of chicken filet or shrimps

    This is a pretty good salad that I eat several times a week. My wife's friend gave us the idea, and my wife is gone for a few months so I think this is convenient since I'm living by
    myself for now. Its real easy, just go to say Wal-Mart or your local food store and get one of the pre-made salads in a bag (whatever your preference is) and get some microwaveable chicken tenders, crutons, bacon bits and red wine vinegrette (excuse the spelling). take the chicken tenders and BAKE them in the oven for how ever long the time is with the quantity that you want. Put your salad in a plate, add the crutons, bacon bits, chicken tenders and dressing, and TA-DA, home-made chicken salad in a few minutes. The chicken tenders should be crispy and add even more texture to the, rather than when it were by itself.

    Seriously though I like stuff called Waldorf or Aloha salad which is essentially

    grapes, cataloupe, honeydew melon, apples and walnuts mixed together in cool whip mmmmmmmmmmmmmm to make it "aloha" salad just add coconut and pineapple.

    My really good egg salad recipe:

    Hard boiled eggs, a couple (4-5)
    Brown mustard
    Seasoned Salt
    Pepper
    Mayo
    Hot sauce (get a real hot sauce, Tabasco is crap)

    Basically, its about a tablespoon of brown mustard, less than a 1/4 cup mayo, and a good sprinkle of seasoned salt and black pepper, plus a shot of hot sauce and you are done! Mash eggs til they are as fine/chunky as you like it. Scale up as necessary if you make a ton more eggs.

    The only one I know of involves a pound of seasoned beef, loaded with cheese and is inside a fried shell. Possibly with a little lettuce on top.
    It's hard to look at it like a learning experence.

    Lettuce salad. I like simple.

    Iceberg or romaine lettuce
    sliced maters
    finely diced onion (red or white)
    ground Mozzarella cheese
    diced bacon o ham
    oil vinegar based dressing

    Dill pickle on the side

    Now for my favorite salad

    taco meat (can be any taco seasoning spiced meat really)
    lettuce
    maters
    olives diced
    Doritos slightly crushed(can be any flavored corn tortilla chip)
    sharpest cheddar you can stand
    super fine diced chives and red onions
    thousand island dressing

    Toss lightly to mix, eat before the corn chips get soggy. Even then it is still good.

    Salad with lettuce, hard boiled eggs, ham, mozza cheese, tomatoes, my favourite, get it anytime i go to a pizza place in NF, NY. also get steak sub and pizza and wings...salad is the promisary note that food is coming

    * 2 teaspoons soy sauce
    * 1 tablespoon sesame oil (optional)
    * 1/4 cup vegetable oil
    * 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
    * 1 (8 ounce) package dried rice noodles
    * 1 head iceberg lettuce - rinsed, dried, and chopped
    * 4 boneless chicken breast halves, cooked and shredded
    * 3 green onions, chopped
    * 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Prepare the dressing 30 minutes ahead of time by combining the brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, salad oil, and rice vinegar in a salad dressing carafe.
    2. To prepare the Chinese rice noodles, heat a skillet with a few tablespoons of oil and break off a little bit of the noodles and add them to the skillet and fry them. They will puff up in the skillet, so only add a few at a time. As they begin to puff up, remove and drain them on paper towels. Be sure to cook long enough as the under cooked noodles will be like eating needles. Once cooked, add them to the salad mixture.
    3. In a large bowl combine the iceberg lettuce, cooked and shredded chicken, green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Let chill about 10 minutes, and just before serving add the cooked rice noodles. Serve in salad bowls and offer the dressing in a pourable container so your family can add as much dressing as they want. You can also pour the dressing over the top of the salad, toss, and serve immediately.

    I've been making a lot of deli sandwiches lately, here's my recipe:

    Some soft, Potato and Buttermilk are the best. Country Hearth or Sara Lee.
