What drivers give the best quality/performance for a 7900GT? trying to get more performance out of my card and I am thinking drivers might do the trick.

The ones from the nvidia site should be fine, otherwise you could try the new leaked 177.26 forceware with a modded inf.

I'm using XTreme-G 174.74 atm, was just wondering if there were any 7 series optimized drivers that are better than what I have.

You could try XG 175.26. I don't think there are any drivers optimized for specific series.
