Hey there guys. I got a 8GB PNY Attache drive here. I'm trying to format it to make it into a USB startup stick and to remove a bunch of stuff I put on it the other day. Problem is, when I go to format it, it tells me the thing is write protected. Wtf?? It gives me the same message in Windows XP as well as Vista. Can someone tell me what I need to do to "unprotect" it? :bang head:

Well, I have never seen that before. However, to change the protection status of a floppy, you would open "my computer" > right click on the drive > uncheck all four boxes at the bottom.

Hope that helps.

My PNY sticks tend to have a small Write protect switch on them, however i'm assuming that you looked for that.
Can you write anything to it or is it just when you try to format it?
