Xmas without NewEgg is like a candy store without chocolate.

I wouldn't jump ship if it only means waiting a month or two. Get the gear you want with a cheap dualie you can torture for a while until the X4s get out then swap.

Whats the point of AM2+ high-end stuff when AM3 is coming out in a month's difference ?
Also, I heard news that there might be a 4x1 MB L2 Cache Revision of Shanghai called Hydra, is the same holding for Deneb ?
Although tempting, I would still prefer to wait for the 890FX and SB800, and then put in the cheapest Phenom x4 BE I can find :p

well from the looks of it even the sb600 boards are gonna be able to run these new 940's :D

some of us would rather spend the $ on something else instead of having to reformat and trying to gennie pig a new board/

BTW here list of MSI boards that will work for Phenom II.

Onto next point. Simple guide to follow for AMD upgrading this next year
If(you have AM2 or lower)
Wait for AM3

if(you have AM2+)
Buy Phenom 940

if(you have hellas moniez)
Buy me a computer

rofl yep I'm glad msi is maybe gonna support the 1st pII's out if it does I sure will get one off the bat, but my real upgrade will be the same time it is every yr and that will be around end of april :D

PII? OI we're all going back to the old Pentium II?!? :p

I hope AMD hits a home run on this. I'd like to recommend AMD again especially on the higher end.

I thought it was pretty cool I mean it has been what 10 yr's since pII's came out LOL

I just hope they do around 3.5+ on stock v and cooling...

Oh I see lots of AM2+ people willing to upgrade, but I think most of you with SB600 might not overclock that well
And, how much is top-of-the line PII (BE/FX) going to cost? I have a feeling it might go all the way to $400-500 if it manages to match Yorkfield, and overclock well (say 4 Ghz on air w/ TRUE like cooler)

Good flowchart dolk, but now its more like it :-

my guess is the 920 will be around 200 and the 940 will be around 300+

hopefully less but chances are the BE 940 will be more

Looks like AMD has a good chip coming. Looking forward to results with these.

According to the info what the manufacturers got from AMD this is the list of processors for the first half of the next year, channel availability might be different. Seems like we get to read new reviews of AMD processors every 2 months, quite a change from last year.Source

It means that a lot of people who recently got AM2+ boards can get the new CPU instead of having to change the mobo and RAM. I'm still on a 939 socket so I'll be holding out that little bit longer for AM3. Oh the agony!

chances are I will get a 920 or 940 before the end of jan is supplies are aval...
