I think it's time for a new build :) So I was thinking the new i7 and x58 platform, here is what I am planning on doing (please point out things I should change) I will be overclocking, not extreme but with my TRUE 120.

ASUS 9800GT Ultimate- Already own.

Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB-$74.99

Grand total after shipping- $742.76

How does this build look? Everything else I already own, And the PC will be mostly used for folding and gaming.

Personally I'd wait a few months until I built a i7 system. There are very few choices of chips and boards right now and prices are pretty high. Your system doesn't look too bad right now either.

deneb should be released in ready amounts by mid February. I'd say you should wait until then.

Is you were to buy this system now though, i'd say consider getting 6gigs or 4gigs of ram (3 x 2 or 2 x 2) over the 3 x 1 setup.

+1 I would also wait a little too before upgrading to i7, more choices and lowered prices!

lol,,, Plus will give me time to catch you again due my internet being down for a few days and you passed me ,,,,,,,

Heh, I saw that, If I can get my quad folding with my 8800GT too I'll make a good dent for myself :) But it keeps crashing.

So it looks like I will be waiting to rebuild, I really am hoping AMD gets back in, Lower prices for everyone I hope :D

I would also wait until deneb as your current system certainly isn't lacking. If you just want another folder you should be able to put together a q6600 box for $300 from the classies.

That's what I may end up doing, Is it still the p45 motherboards that overclock the best? Or would a phenom be better bang for my buck?
