I was looking at the cheapest 6GB tri-channel memory on newegg and came up with Crucial 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1066 (CAS 7). My question is how much of a difference will 1066 vs 1333 vs 1600 make? In real world use will you notice the difference?

I would not even lok at DDR3 below 1600 MHz

When you can have DDR2 running cas5 at up to 1200MHz, the jump to cas 7 or 8 makes a big difference.

do speed vs timings make any difference?

example, 7-7-7-24 DDR3 1066 vs 9-9-9-24 DDR3 1600

dont thinking about. if you dont have a processor with a integrated memory controller so you wont see any difference, because the fsb will hold it back. in another case - the frequency is more primary i think, but with a endurable timings. %)
