About all I took away from that article, is what I've known for years: fancy thermal paste hardly makes any difference.
I have some Ceramique that I still use from time to time, whenever I happen to run across the tube. It works alright. Most of the time, though, I use an old tube of zinc oxide sunscreen... been using it ever since PCs started needing heatsinks. (The expiration date on the tube is 4/93.) Even on modern hardware, though, I have seen no appreciable temperature difference between it and the Ceramique.
