so it's been a while since when this problem started, so i can't remember exactly when it started, but i believe it was caused by a new power supply.

In any event the ground on my computer is noisy (assumption) and I can't stand it. When I un-plug the 3.5mm jack from my computer I cannot hear any noise. When the jack is in either the front or the back port I get noise, as well as when it is touching the case.

Can you think of any solutions?

thanks!

what speakers are you using.

I had a similar problem with ground looping and the sub in my 5.1 setup... a simple wire between the phono ground on the amp and the amp plate on the back of the sub got rid of the white noise completly.

My suggestion, try placing a wire between the case and the amp of the speakers grounding both cases together.
