I just installed an HD3870 and spent some time tinkering with it. Installed a good aftermarket cooler, over-clocked it to 820/1200, nothing crazy.
My 3dmark06 is 10333, which falls in line with what similar systems benchmark at. I checked Futuremark listings and an E8400 with an HD3870 gets about 11k. My Pentium Dual Core has less L2 cache so I figure the scores are in line.
Fallout 3 - High settings, 720p, good frame-rate.
Left 4 Dead - Maxed settings, 4x AA, 8x AF, good frame-rate.
Mass Effect - Maxed settings, good frame-rate.
WoW - medium settings, 18 FPS. If I lower the resolution and lower shadows, I get about 30 fps and it dips easily. I've heard WoW has problems with ATI cards but there's no concrete solution that I've found. Has anyone else experienced this and found a work-around?
