Is my opty 175 finally dead?

The first time I got around it by forgoing the spacers supplied with the Storm. Tricky getting the torque balanced (so the heatsink is even) when you do that, though. On the second system I trimmed the socket frame instead. Still tricky but not as bad and I can use any heatsink on that system without further modification ... :)

You may have bad caps on your motherboard. Badcaps.net, IIRC, has reported bad caps causing errors and high temp readings!

my guess is bad caps aswell, but thats been covered
 
I have a 2.2 Opty that I just decommissioned if you are interested :) 165 if i remember right.
