very interesting, subbing for reference oh have you got that one where they powered 580s with 480s power boards? that was the best way to void warranties ever.

thats the one im thinking of, must of been a pricey mod.

He works in the industry, so I don't think cost was an issue. Parts were harvested from Asus stock I suppose.

true, i suppose even "broken" 480s could be used if their power parts were intact.

I added some stuff for 8800 GTX, like alternate read point, and a sweet OVP mod

Looks pretty nice and simple. Other than that connection to the leg of the chip to make it think it needs to pump more volts... How in the world do people solder onto such a small point? Seems like it would be really hard to not touch any of the other legs, but only the one intended.

I suppose you could attempt to desolder it if you screw up, but then that can't be so easy either I suppose.

That happens a lot if you're not careful. It just takes a bit of practice, patience, and a fine point on your iron. Once you get the hand of it, the small stuff is just as easy
