First order of business, why does the ram have no cooling on this specific card? I know it's the non-reference cooler, which is why I bought it, but am I outdated in thinking they should be cooled by ramsinks or something that has contact? The passive cooling bothers me for my OC a little bit.. :screwy:

Pictures are giant, so I'll just stick with the indirect links for now.

Here are a couple of pictures that shows the ram not having any cooling, I'll get to some better pictures of the actual card after I put it in and make sure it works ok first. I have to get a stock bench with temps and such before I start replacing the thermal paste and ocing.

More to come......

Hey Dirt 2 was included! :santa2:

Stock Performance Vantage Test:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=1884475

GPU: 17801
CPU: 15756
Total: P17241

Increase over my previous maximum overclocked 4870 ( 815mhz core /1070mhz memory) using identical system and drivers: 30-51% (RIDICULOUS!!!) If I take my stock 4870 before overclocking, the result is even more stunning.

The cooler is also very effective and quiet. At 70% it's practically not noticable and brings the idle temp to 46c (stock idle temp at 32% usage is about 55c) and a load temp of 60c (compared to 68-70c from stock/standard automatic fan around 59%)

Can't wait to oc!

Maybe ypu can cool your ram by youself. I just found at another forum
http://www.overclock.net/ati/649632-newbie-guide-installing-heat-sinks-your.html

Wasn't really necessary it seems, the ram doesn't seem to get hot at all on this card.. at least at stock speeds anyway. This cooler also seems to kick butt as well. It's really quiet and while playing modern warfare 2 the temps never get above 65c and tend to drop down quickly during intermissions.

Good choice so far! Not a lot of time yet to OC and really check it out plus take the rest of the pictures so currently the title is a bit of a tease, but soon!
