a friend just gave me a hdd he had laying around. it has xp on it, along with a bunch of other stuff. i would like to transfer everything to a different (blank drive), so i would have a hdd with nothing but a windows xp os install. pretty much, i want to get the drive back to a fresh install status. is there anyway i can do this without reformatting

1. You have a drive with Windows XP + Programs
2. You want that drive with Windows XP without the programs?

You can uninstall the programs or reinstall Windows XP. There is no way to get the fresh install status unless you have a drive image of when it was originally done or unless you install again.

thats what i was figuring. i went ahead and reformatted it and am just using it for a small external drive
