Hey everyone. So I guess I wasn't thinking fully when I built my computer because I really regret getting my 5770. I mean it will probably work great for most people out there but I play a lot of DX11 games and this card is just enough to get 20 FPS on decent DX11 games and settings.

So I was thinking of upgrading it. I have about a $300 budget unless proven I should spend more.

Now I need something that'll last me minimum 2 years in terms of keeping up to speed with the latest games. I know no one can predict the future but just an estimate.

Before I start I want to say I rather SLI/Crossfire because chances are when I'm ready to upgrade, I'll most likely just get the newest technology at the time.

Anyways I was thinking:

-2x MSI GTX 460 (Cyclones which I can overclock) - Found them for $150 each :D

-1x Radeon 6870 - About $240

-1x 5770 - $140 and add to my current configuration

-amp up my budget and wait

Best bang for the buck cards out right now is the 6850 and 6870 imo. The 6870 is a little bit slower than the 5870 and a little faster than the GTX 470. The crossfire scaling actually is so good that it becomes better than 5870 crossfire and with driver updates you should expect even greater performance all at a 151 watts per card. Two 5770's is about the equivalent of one 5870. Two GTX 460's is a good amount more powerful than a GTX 480. I think you really should wait for the 6900 cards to come out. When they come out, prices should drop on the 5870's and GTX 480's. The 6900 cards will probably start at $350-$400 my guess so you probably won't get one but let the release of those cards drive prices down on all the other cards. When the 6870 came out, Nvidia dropped the price of the GTX 470 to $250 range so wait.

Final say I have is one 6870 which will be the performance of two 5770's or get two 6850's which will definitely kill the two GTX 460's but that would costs about $360. And again just wait till the rest of the 6xxx cards come out to really give you an idea on what to get.

P.S. Why can't your 5770 play DX11 games? AT 1680x1050 I play all the latest games at very high settings and get above 40fps. What resoloution are you at? For Metro 2033 play at DX10, it looks the same and you get double the frames.

I completely forgot that the 69xx cards should be coming out!!! I will just wait till after x-mas hopefully I can raise my budget at they will be out by then. Or like you said get another card because the prices will drop. Thanks.

My 5770 is just enough to play in DX11. I play 1920 x 1080 and ideally I would like to start doing Eyefinity / Surround. But the problem is this card is pumping out 3x frames in these games the highest and lowest probably high teens. As for DX11 games I play BC2 and Dirt 2 and hopefully Crysis 2. Although it is going to get more popular as time goes on and I want to make sure I can handle them

Anyways thanks for the reply. As it stand now, I'll just wait
