Hiya

I've recently noticed my flight sim has just slowed right down and the FPS has just dropped, my mum's partner who's a IT technican for a subcontracter to Dell has had a look and has showed me some decent memory upgrades from my current DDR2 2x1GB sticks to DDR3 2x2GB sticks and a graphics card upgrade to a 1GB HD graphics card. He also suggested i try overclocking, i would just like suggestions from you professionals what the best overclocking setting would be to use.

My Specs are as follows:

Processor: AMD Phenom 8450 Tripple-Core Processor 2.1GHZ
Motherboard: Asrock N68-S (Bios: P1.5) http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=N68-S
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 Series (40 SM4.1 600MHz, 512MB DDR3 2x400MHz, PCIe 2.00 x16)
Memory: 2x 1GB DIMM DDR2 (Model: BL12864AA80A8FE5) (Speed: PC2-8000U DDR2-800) (Memory DC Line 1.80V)

Operating System: Windows 7 ultimate x86 (x32)

First off, unless you're getting a new CPU, you can't use DDR3 RAM, only DDR2, but a memory increase never hurts.

Except for the cpuNB adjustments that are sometimes available the Phenom I's overclock much the same as any other AM2 CPU. You might want to read through the AM2 OC Guide. If you don't need the technical details there's a cheat sheet at post #26.

If you have any questions about that stuff just post back here - I'll be around. :)

Well last night we were looking around the interwebs and found some suggested overclocking values for the graphics card i have so we have over clocked it to:
GPU Clock Settings: 750MHz
Memory Clock Settings: 480MHz

I tried flight sim on the new overclocking settings and it seemed to improve performance with average FPS of about 11-14 but was still suggested to get a new graphics card, the one im planning on getting is:
