Every once in a while I put up a Poll when a new tick or tock comes out. I am curious as to who is purchasing a new Intel CPU, and if so which model?

PS- I left out the option for just simply "NO". LOL
So if thats your choice, just simply respond as text in the thread.

Regards,
Dom

As far as myself, I am currently on the wall about buying a new 2600K just for craps as a secondary gaming rig to mess around with. There is something inside of me that keeps saying 5.0 Ghz 24/7 on air cooling and low volts just sounds amazing. 5 Years ago we wouldve never dreamed of quad core/8 threaded machines idling at 5.0 Ghz on the desktop. It seems that 5.0 GHz is the new 4.0 Ghz and I want to be a part of it.

If anyone can talk me into it or out of it I am all ears. my current rig is in signature and honestly it would be a big mistake for me to run out and buy this since I am using a Core i7-920 D0 @ 4.6 GHz and a socket 1366 machine. lol

Cheers fellas.

I was so jumping on Sandy Bridge, even got a benching member to go to MicroCenter for me to pick up an i7 2600K, but they were out of stock. I'm beginning to debate whether or not to get SB now while I wait for my cash to transferred back to me. LGA2011 is looking really nice with 6, 8, and maybe 12 core CPUs, plus quad-channel RAM...

I dunno what I'm gonna do :bang head

That's a lot of cash to put on a SB motherboard. Go big or go home, huh? Looking forward to results

I don't see the 2500k and 2600k as being enough of an upgrade over my existing gear to justify the purchase right now.

I'll limp along with my current C2Quad @4.2GHz build until Socket 2011 is intro'd and then re-evaluate which one of those parts to build a new system with.

I mean, If I am going to upgrade, I'm not going to just replace a mobo/cpu/ram; I'm going to build a whole new system because my current one is still too good to just part out.

The good thing about Socket 2011 is that I can start buying parts now, like the Case, Power Supply Speakers and Drives and then, when socket 2011 lands, buying the CPU/Mobo/Ram is a far easier check to write.

So far, I've ordered:

Corsair Obsidian 800d
AX850 Power Supply

Ordering March 1:
(2) F240 SSDs (RAID 0 FTMFW)
SP2500 Speakers

New computer (specs in sig) already up and running (though there are a few small problems that are bugging me).

Runs Crysis on Very High @ 1680x1050 with 4xAA with no noticeable lag (haven't used fraps to check what FPS its actually running at though) and I haven't even overclocked anything yet.

:attn:

I voted for the last one for the funny factor but no one else has :( oh well.

i wont probably get SB my i7-860 at 4ghz is enough. I think ill waste more money on other things :attn:

if i spend any more money at all on my rig this year it will be video card, SSD, cooling... probably in that order.

I'm sure with proper cooling i can get my 970 up to around 4.4-4.6 considering i'm using the stock cooler now. realistically that is plenty.

I couldn't resist any longer. Just returned my i7-950 for the i7-2600K and new motherboard. Can't wait for it to get here.

I'll be there later this spring. Moving from a e6700, this will make a difference. Life and my wife's van had priority over my systems for a very long time...
