The Intel Storage Manager process is always maxing one of my cores. It doesn't seem to affect games as it just takes open cycles...but it kills battery life. I stopped intel RST program from startup, but it looks like the service is still run of course. The RST program would startup but in sys tray but when I clicked on it it would freeze and say its not responding.

Can I stop the service from starting up? I'm afraid to do anything that kills this OS install because I reinstalling windows and trying to get any updates for ANYTHING in Iraq is NOT fun.

My system specs:
Gateway PX-171XFX
Windows 7 64bit
2.4ghz C2D
ICH945
ICH8M controller
4gb DDR2
8800M GTS

The ICH8M is controlling:
120GB Mushkin Callisto SSD
250GB 5400rpm HDD
CD/DVD+-RW

AHCI in BIOS.
