Will modular cables from a different brand work?

Hi all,

I have a Coolmax CUG-950B which I received from a friend, but he didn't have the PCI-express cables for it. I have some extra PCI-e power cables from an OCZ ModXStream power supply and was wondering if they would work between brands.

Both cables have 8-pins that plug into the PSU and end in 2x 6-pin PCI-e plugs. They fit fine, but I'm afraid to turn it on lest it explodes into a fiery fireball of flaming death. Should it work? Should I just buy another set from the company?

Based on the pin-out diagrams for your PSU here, and the pin-out for the OCZ ModXStream PSU here, you'll be fine.

Edit: That's just a generic pin-out it says for a 500 - 700w ModXStream, I can't say if the model you had was that specific one.
