I am in need of a fax modem for my wife's computer. We had a fax modem on our old computer and I was just going to put it in the new build, but it didn't physical fit. Are there certain specs that I need to look for to fit this new motherboard?

When I went to install it in the tower, the connection to the mother board didn't match up, if I remember correctly the old fax modem was too short. The computer (Sony VIAO Desktop) it came out of was about 8 or 9 yrs old.

I was hoping to have an internal one to try to keep the clutter down...

Here are the specs on the new motherboard

"The connection to the motherboard didn't match up." Not sure what you mean by "connection". Did the old modem go into one of the motherboard expansion slots?

Did the existing modem mate with an old ISA slot or a PCI slot?

The difference is number of pins, length and the electronic specs of the two generations of expansion slots. My guess is the computer you took the modem out of had the old ISA expansion slots and the motherboard of the newer computer has PCI expansion slots. What you want is a "PCI Fax modem".

Should work fine. That Rosewill modem gets good customer reviews.
