Hi,
I just purchased Patriot Viper II ‘Sector 7’ Edition 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model PV7312G2000ELK 12GB of ram for a P8Z68-V Pro mobo with a 2600K processor.
I ask as my last build was a p6X58D Asus mobo & it needed 3 sticks of DDR3 (I think). I also had 12GB (I use a bunch of VM's at the same time).
Anyway, I was curious if I could use the ram I just picked up from Newegg, or if I need to stick with either 2 sticks, or 4 sticks?
The manual mentions the optimal placement is 1, 2, or 4 - it doesnt mention 3 sticks. Did I buy the wrong memory?
Thanks,
Rich
