just wondering if 80 plus gold vs silver vs bronze has a big effect on overclocking? does gold provide better OC'in numbers or stability? or is there any difference at all?

There's a good article about what those ratings mean on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_PLUS

Essentially, gold/silver/bronze is a rating of the conversion efficiency of the unit. Units with higher efficiency will pull less power from the wall at a given load and in turn produce less heat. While a higher rating often says something about the overall quality of the PSU, it's essentially an efficiency badge and nothing else.

I would worry about the overall reliability of the power supply before you worry about the 80 PLUS rating. The Recommended PSUs sticky is a good place to start: http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=589708

Zero effect on overclocking DIRECTLY. Its just efficiency like Johan said above. One can make an argument that a more efficient PSU has less ripple/noise etc, but those two certainly dont go hand in hand.

+1 to Johan's post. :)
