Right clicking on a desktop icon stops windows explorer

For about a month or so I have noticed that when I right click on a desktop icon (for that matter right click anything) I get a message saying that windows explorer has stopped working and restarts and rearranges my desktop icons.

I don't know what would be causing this and was hoping for a quick fix , if not I would still like to have this issue resolved so I can right click files and use my comp as I should be able to.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this kind of issue?

Without knowing anything about your system, or at the very least the OS you're running, I'll wager a guess that it's a shell extensions related issue...

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers

Thanks, it was the Lavasoft Shell Extension. I turned it off, what is the permanent fix?
