Hey,

Both of these power supplies are good, getting good reviews, both recommended. Though, pretty big difference in price. So which one to choose? Is there a reason to take the most expensive one?

I'm actually looking for a new power supply, a 750W one as you can see. I'm just wondering which one I should choose?

Thanks a lot for helping!

(I'm gonna be running 3 HDD's with a GTX 460 OC)

Both of those are good. For your system 750W is overkill, 500W is more that enough. I would choose the cheapest of Seasonic, Corsair, Antec or XFX. Depending on the model a lot of the drives by Corsair, Antec and XFX are made by Seasonic.

edit: Since your in Canada, here's a couple of good PSU on sale right now.

I just bought the True Power 750 for a system I'm putting together, way overkill but can't pass up because of the price.

Well actually I am looking at a 750W because this way I will not have to change my power supply again if I change my video card, and if I do so, the new video card will take a lot of power.. the GTX 580 or higher (when there will be new cards). So, it's safer to look at a 750W. A good power supply can last MANY years.

Never seen a single GPU card that could take more then 650W.

Yes, brand loyalty works MUCH better in the PSU market then in others. But pick something that looks decent in your price range, then try to find a review. Between HardOCP, hardwaresecrets.com, and jonnyguru.com, you should be able to find most.

The Seasonic X750 is the Corsair AX750. They're gold rated and fully modular. The TX is Bronze rated and it's all hardwired. The TX is amazing, the X750 is THE best.

If you're willing to spend a ton and expect it to last a while, Corsair AX and Seasonic Gold X series are a good bet.

http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story5&reid=169 <-- Now I'm not the biggest expert on PSUs. But I've never seen a 10 on that site. Lots of 9.5s on Corsair/Seasonic/XFX/Antec/Silverstone/Superflower and on. The quality makers. But it takes something impressive to get a 10 from OKWolf.

Never owned a Seasonic branded PSU, but all of my Corsairs have been great. The customer service has been excellent as well.

I had an HX750 that wouldn't stay powered when benching. It would work perfect on a regular machine, but if I started benching it would have issue. Took it back and sent me a brand new one no questions asked. Great customer service.

From my understanding, Corsair is to Seasonic as Toyota is to Lexus or Chevrolet is to GMC. Basically, Corsair is the working man's Seasonic.

I know Seasonic makes the Corsair AX750 and AX850, but I'm not sure about the others. Both Seasonic and Corsair have top notch PSUs, couldn't go wrong with either.

When power supplies come so close in performance as the Corsair TX and Seasonic you mentioned, price factors in for me. Today is the last day on the Corsair 10% off deal at Newegg. I've got the TX750 arriving tomorrow. I've looked at all PSU's, and frankly, the Corsair can't be beat. Sure, you might care for modular, but my case has a bottom mount PSU. I only run the cables I need. The rest remain on the bottom in the cable management spot. Frankly, I could care less about modular. If you really want to, you can get extra cables out of the way.

For a PSU of this quality and power rating, you can't beat <$100, no taxes, and free shipping. There's also a $10 mail-in rebate which I never factor into the price I actually pay. So sometime this year or the next, I'll get $10 in the mail. Case closed.

A lot of Corsair's PSU is made by Seasonic. Seasonic make PSU for Antec, XFX and many others. I'm a big Seasonic fanboy. When buying a PSU, I'll look for a Seasonic built, cheapest of Corsair, Antec or XFX in the power range that is required. All things being equal Seasonic PSU are considered to be generally quieter.

For Example: TX750, XFX Core Edition 750 and Seasonic 750 are all made by Seasonic.

AX850 and don't worry about power for 7 years. It's enough juice for almost any 2 video cards and an 8 core cpu. Almost nobody needs more than dual gtx 570's or hd6970's. 7 year warranty from a good company that isn't going anywhere any time soon is hard to beat. If you hang out on this site you're going to upgrade one day.
