GTX 280 + 2500k

As the title states I am getting ready to build a new rig. I will be running a z68 mobo with a 2500k and a gtx 280.

I am looking for a CHEAP but yet stable/reliable/effective power supply that can power these components.

this should do
it will not leave you much room to upgrade tho

Why bother with that? For almost the same price you can get a 750 with PLENTY of room for upgrading. I've got one sitting in my rig now with a 260 and a Q9550 (which should be more power/energy hungry than a 2600k)

I could go SLI if I wanted to.

you don't want to buy a cheap psu
that and 750w is way over kill

OP wants to get a cheep psu that will work in his system
the 750w is ok, but way over kill for the system
on a budget the 550~600w Corsair units are grate
also if you want room to upgrade, go with an 650w psu


EDIT: the one I linked is a little hard to find now
this one is good on a budget too

I am looking for a CHEAP power supply. MY next / last question is will a cx500watt corsair be enough to power my system? It has a 34amp 12v rail and the 2 6+2pin pcie connectors that I need along with a 20amp 5v rail.

A CX500 will run a GTX 280 and 2500K with power to spare.
