Internetworking Project

For a 1200 word project on an aspect of internetworking I have chosen to research DNS. Does anyone know any links to the controling organisation or any links to how a DNS server works?

Here's some more info on setting up a DNS server on a domain (unix DNS):

Hell of a task. I would have chosen DHCP for a 1200 word limit. You can go on about DNS for pages and pages. I have been studying it for months and im still lost, lol.
