I am looking to upgrade my sig which is as follows:

690 2 advance

cpu: intel core 2 duo e6750 2.66
gpu: radeon hd 3870
ram:corsair xms2 ddr2
psu:antec neopower 550w modular
hsf:hyper 212
monitor:samsung syncmaster 2200wm,samsung 40 led
case:coolermaster 690 2 advanced
mobo:gigabye GA-EP45-UD3P

I will be keeping the case, hopefully the psu(if its strong enough) the cd drive, the hyper 212 and my handy dandy cd burner. I do not need windows a keyboard a mouse or a monitor! I am looking for a mobo ram cpu gpu, maybe a psu if i just cant get by with what i have. This rig will be used to play wow, sc2, plants vs zombies(addictive) star wars the old republic when it comes out. Funds are very tight so try to be as budget oriented as possible while still upgrading performance! i have been getting some bsod lately on my machine. I think the mobo is going out. I refuse to buy gigabyte again. I know they are "great: budget boards but i have gone through 3 since 2007 when i built this machine. I also have a wd raptor i will be using for a boot disk! I was looking at an i3 build thinking that would be best bang for the buck upgrade from what i am currently at. I was thinking the i3 550 as this will not be used to OC at all. I would like to put * gigs in this rig. I actually just upgraded and built myself my own machine so this one will be used by the fiancee that i live with. She inherited the sig rig and once we wiped it and reinstalled windows she started having issues. Thank you so much for taking the time to help us out. I have a microcenter close aswell as frys, i ofcourse can and will order from the egg or anywhere else online that i need to. I am also thinking about holding out until black friday and seeing what kind of deals i can get then. though i do hate dealing with the crowds

under 200 for a vid card
under 300 for cpu/mobo/ram.

the cpu ram mobo will more then likely not be bought at the same time as the video card as this is for a tight budget. We are hoping to build a rig that will last 2-4 years on this budget. not sure if thats pheasable.

If you dont get a 2500k cpu, you fail. There are better motherboards, but you gotta pay to play :) Any board will do 4.5ghz tho

This mobo and cpu would be better

But that doesn't leave much for ram lol.

300 for CPU/mobo and RAM all in is tough. Try for 375-400 if you can like in the last post where the 2500K setup was suggested.
