Hello people of OC Fourms!

I'm trying to overclock my Intel Core i7-870 to 4.0 GHz, but in my BIOS, the highest multiplier setting I can go is 24X. Is there another way to overclock it?

System Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-870
PSU: ThermalTake TR2 RX 750W
GPU: HIS Radeon HD 6870
RAM: 12 GB DDR3 Corsair XMS
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3

you need to raise your bclk to increase your cpu speed above your max multi.

read this article for an in depth on how to overclock.

also what is your current cooling for your cpu? that will affect how well you can overclock. I have an i7 870 and love it so if you take your time you should be able to get to 4.0 Ghz without much of a snag.

I have one as well, and love it too. Definately needs decent cooling, and you should have no issues. Check out the guide in my sig.

I have a Corsair H80 Liquid Cooler.

with the H80 you 'should' be able to hit 3.8-4.0 Ghz. it all depends on whats your load is like and what temps you are happy with. so give the article in my post and GoD-tatto's sig a read and you should be well on your way to a nice overclock.
