i was just wondering which is better i dont know how amd does there product naming so if some one can help me that would be great

IN general, bigger numbers are better.

The 6950 should have the advantage more often than not.

But one thing to consider is that the 6870 uses the VLIW5 architecture while the 6950 uses VLIW4. Some games (Battlefield series notably) seem to prefer VLIW5.

From what I have read a BIOS mod to 6870 specs seems pretty simple to perform and yields pretty good results not sure which brands are the best though. There is a chart on the bottom I personally like Sapphire cards they are reliable when oc'd

That article is regarding 69xx-series cards, not 68xx cards.
