Hey guys...

Working on doing some temporary work to my network till I can find time to build it the way I want it.

What I need to do is get a solid network connection to my garage, and so far any WiFi or Powerline solution hasn't worked.

What I'm thinking to do is this... And I'm curious if it'll work.

My DGL-4500 Router has 4 Ethernet Connections for devices...

I want to use one of those connections to provide service to the garage via a 100 foot Cat5e cable out to the garage.

My question:

Will a networking switch (such as a 4 port) at the end of that Cat5e give me the ability to use more than 1 computer connected via cable while in the garage, each with its own IP address on the network?

Or will I need some other type of device?

Thanks for any input.

In short, yes. Your router will provide IP addresses and other networking information to your devices, and the switch will simply connect them back to the router.
