Quick look over my computer build?

There's a long technical explanation, but the important thing to know is that # of channels = optimal number of sticks.

Most motherboards are dual channel, therefore two sticks of RAM is optimal. 4 is okay, since it is a multiple of 2,.it still runs. in dual channel mode, its just that more RAM sticks put more strain on the IMC on the CPU, so. it might be a bit harder to get that max OC.

wanted to say that i agree

Which z77 mobo do you think would be good? Kinda looking for a cheap one with a reliable brand. I saw gigabyte has one but its $190 and I dont think I need that. Im not looking to overclock. Just for gaming

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157293 this is the cheapest (best) price for performance that i have seen so far
Its made by asrock it has everything you might need (just take a look over it to make sure it has everything) has a good power phase delivery and heat sinks on its phases so you can (if you ever decide in the future) to Overclock.

+1

Love the looks of that board layout.....it will be mine with an i5 2500k...most likely next month.

That looks great. Thank you for the suggestion. I will update my thread with all of my parts once ivy bridge comes out right before the big buy :D

nice but just make sure that you get another 120 for the hyper 212 and wait for the HDD you can snag a deal for a 1 tb for $90

Ah yes thanks for the reminder for the heatsink fan. Not sure Id ever use 1tb but Ill be on the lookout for a deal.

Edit: How would I add a fan onto that heatsink? What could I use to support it

Im looking to get a gtx 680, but is there any downside to getting a superclocked one?

This one for example. I don't know how to overclock, but as far as wear on the card or durability issues to worry about. Because I could spend an extra $30 if there isnt any problems to worry about. Or should I just stick with a stock one?

LOL sorry for not posting a build completley frogot but i will post one as soon as Ivy bridge comes out (the 29th) so just sit tight untill then and i will get you a build. Sorry again and if i where you i would wait for the non-reference cards to come out due to there better cooling

A review on this board says that the hyper212 cooler blocks one of the ram slots with the gskill ripjaw series. Well I was planning on getting those exact parts. Any suggestions of what I should do?

cooler master 212+ blocks the first ram slot with g.skill ripjaws. just figured id mention that here so you get an idea on spacing. boots / runs fine with slots 2, 4 used.

I was planning on getting 4x4gb
