    New Build - Advice Appreciated

    Hey guys, first time posting. Below is what i'm planning for my new build, any tips, recommendations or proposed changes are greatly appreciated!

    If you have a nice budget, Intel just released Ivy Bridge processors, going on sale end of this week/ next week. If your interested.

    I haven't done a lot of research on ivy bridge, is 2011 better w/ the 4 channels?I heard the ivy bridge wont get much OC ability.

    Not really, there's no software written to make use of it. The RAM you have listed will work just fine either way.

    yeah i wanna future-proof it though. what case do you think would be better?

    If you're talking about what theoretically MAY work well in the future then you can make the same sort of arguments regarding AMD's current CPU architecture. Absolutely no point as it generally takes developers years to catch up to hardware. Just go with what works well today.

    The only time you need to worry about this sort of thing is regarding socket changes and when both manufacturers eventually move from DDR3 to DDR4

    I figure it doesn't much matter though it really comes down to whether you overclock or not. If you intend to overclock then Sandy Bridge is the optimal choice, if not then go with the newest Ivy Bridge chips.
