Hi,

I currently own an Asus 8800GTS 640m/320bit video card(hah, come to think of it i've had this video card for more than 4 years now)

I'm really happy with it, but for some while the stock cooler started being insufficient during this summer considering that the idle temp of my video card is 83Celsius, whilst playing games it jumps to 100, hence starts to lag, etc.

A friend bought the Zalman cooler a few years back and recently gave it to me thanks to a system upgrade.

The kit came with the large GPU heatsink and cooler along with 8 small self-adhesive heatsinks to apply on memories, etc. See http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41zZLOsHU8L.jpg

My video card's board looks like this - http://www.colourful-zone.com/Store/images/nvidia_8800gts_pcb.jpg

Could someone please edit the image and mark where I should startegically mount the 8 heatsinks?

thanks a lot folks!

Yea, I got that too, however as specified in my first post I only have 8 heatsinks and about 14 places where I can mount them

Most put them on the Vrams. The big square ones. There are smaller Vregs that might be cooled by the original heatsink, did they have spots or tape on them? A pic of the original cooler with the bits of tape still on the spots. If it was a modern card, we can find it easy, but older ones like that might ebe hard.

If it's the full Zalman kit you have, then they only want you to cover the Vrams, not the Vregs too. You'll have to buy different heatsinks for the Vregs if you want to cool them too, they are smaller.

Like these. http://www.performance-pcs.com/cata...ge=product_info&cPath=54_197&products_id=4292

Aha! I had a GT8800 once, still have pics of my aftermarket cooler going on.

Sweet! Thanks a lot for the comprehensive details!

The small heatsinks have self adhesive tape on them
