I ran a BF3 comparison bench with the new 12.9 BETA drivers vs 12.8, Some Intresting results, not all good news.

First i benched Going Hunting.

Current 12.8:
1100Mhz / 1200Mhz
Min 43 - Max 80 - Avg 56.983

1200Mhz / 1500Mhz
min 50 - Max 92 - Avg 64.486

12.9 Beta
1100Mhz / 1200Mhz
Min 45 - Max 85 - Avg 59.217

1200Mhz / 1500Mhz
min 50 - Max 96 - Avg 67.217

As you can see there is a 7% performance gain.

I ran a couple more.

Op; Semper Fields

12.8
1100Mhz / 1200Mhz
Min 42 - Max 86 - Avg 59.857

12.9 BETA
1100Mhz / 1200Mhz
Min 43 - Max 83 - Avg 60.454

Almost no gain.

Op; Swordbreaker

12.8
1100Mhz / 1200Mhz
Min 31 - Max 85 - Avg 50.533

12.9 BETA
1100Mhz / 1200Mhz
Min 34 - Max 86 - Avg 50.713

Again there is no gain.

Some people are reporting seeing +10 FPS on large long distance view maps but nothing on small confined maps.
My results would seem to support that, Going Hunting is a long distance view map which has given me significant gains.

Semper Fields and Swordbreaker are small or confined Metro and urban maps.

I have run a couple of air maps and my FPS are up in some parts of those large maps, it's not 10, maybe 5. But 10 is believable if your running a 7970.

However i don't like benching multyplayer, as... well it's impossible to do accurately.

I have also come to the conclusion that benching BF3 on single player is also not good.

In multiplayer i'm getting Avg 60 FPS on maps like Swordbreaker with 64 players and allsorts going on around me.
with a map like Semper Fields 'Metro' i'm averaging 80 FPS in multiplayer.

In any-case this is not an overall performance jump like we had seen moving up in previous generation drivers.
But there is tweaking to improve things a bit more.

I should also add that benching Heaven yielded no change. but more importantly it crashed at overclocked volts where i know i'm stable with 12.8 drivers, i had to up the volts another 13mv to get iot stable again.

These are BETA drivers, so they are not going to be perfect, i do hope whats good in these can be ported to 13.0 with a few more tweaks added.

For now i would still like to say well done AMD, again. Keep it up.

Not in BF3, AVP, Dirt Showdown. those are what i have run on these drivers so far.

I'm going to go on a spending spree for more games at some point, when i actually have time to play them.
