So i just got a 7870 video card, i originally wanted the 7970 but they were out so i settled and im not too pleased with it i only get like 38-45fps on guild wars 2 on high settings. My question is if i were to buy an asus 7970 could i crossfire it with my diamond 7870 or whats the deal with that?

No. You can only crossfire in the same series. 7950-7970, 6950-6970. Like that.

Where were you looking to buy 7970's that they were sold out? Newegg has them in stock. They have the XFX black edition for $399 after a rebate.

Send back the 7870 and get a 7970.

If you wanted the 7970 your really not getting your monies worth with a 7870.

just a local electronics store lol but yea i think i will return it, i have my eye on that pretty little asus 7970

If you haven't had it for too long and you have all the packaging without damaged they should take it back:)

If not "its broken"

afaik, guildwars 2 is hugely CPU limited, the more processing power you have, the better framerates you get.
i get 45-65fps with crossfired 4890's, and a core2extreme @ 3.6ghz
