I'm working on an un-named, as yet to be completely design settled, project. One of the early to-do's on the list was to utilize an older MB tray for the set-up, said MB tray being so old that it had no cut-out for easy installation/change out of a HS or water block. SOOOO, here are a couple of snaps of my effort.
1. mark the tray for initial drilling. I used a 1/8" drill bit to drill the centering holes.
2. Then used an annular cutter to make some 1/2" holes for accessing the interior of the tray. I have several sizes of annular cuttering bits in the set, just chose 1/2" 'cause....
3. I cut the sheet metal with a jig saw, fine tooth blades seem to work o.k. on thin sheet metal.
4. And have a finished rectangle. Guess I could have made it any shape. Note the right angle grinder handy as I used it to smooth out burrs, straighten lousy handiwork, and probably could still work it some more.
5. Finally, my back up tool in case the whole mess frustrates me.......
