I would suggest using YUMI, which pretty much automates the process.

Okay, I DL YUMI. It has so many options, which is best for a partition that disappeared off my backup HD? I can see the HD in properties, used/free space is 0/0/0/0, meaning ack.

The physical HD can be found, it show up in bios. I can still see the System reserved partition on it in W7. It's a pretty old drive, 3 years +.

I only use the HD por the pics folder and W7 backups.

It looks like I lost the partition. My only concern is it had my family etc pictures going back many years. I'd like to get those back. But first I need to get the partition back.

I'm running TestDisk 6.14 right now, deep analysis. I need to read the documentation more. Boy it's like being back in the DOS days, LOL.

I just used Testdisk tonight to restore a partition, actually. That is the first thing I reach for.

This gives a pretty good run through on how to restore the partition.
