Zodac was the one who setup new accounts there
I don't know if BWG has access or privileges yet
right now only zodac can create new years or main forum topics headings
we can create topics within those threads only (just not on main page)

Yes, I know. I sent Zodac a PM on OCN's forum, requesting access for BWG and a generic access for any other new captains that may be needed. (copy to BWG).
If she doesn't give the access requested soon, we'll have to find another forum to meet in. We can't wait for too long.
Just visited the captain's forum. No new captains have registered, yet.
Update:
Zodac has replied - she has no privileges on the captain's site, anymore. Mortimersnerd is the MAN there. I have PM'd him, requesting larger privileges and etc.Last edited by Adak; 02-18-13 at 07:24 PM.

Simple, straight forward handicapping.
This uses a simple ratio between competing teams, to handicap a race. It's ONLY based on folding points.
First, a background RACING average is determined for let's say, three teams, for a 1 day race. The race day has 8 update periods - just like the Chimp Challenge.
In this example, Team #1 Ants placed first, Team 3 Cats placed second, and Team 2 Bats placed third.Code:Team 1: Ants Team 2: Bats Team 3: Cats ======================================================================= Racing Averages: 5M 10M 12M (per day) Handicap Ratio: 12/5 12/10 1 (most productive team has no handicap) Points updates: (raw folding points) 1: 600,000 1,200,000 1,400,000 2: 650,000 1,225,000 1,430,000 3: 712,000 1,330,000 1,510,000 4: 710,000 1,389,000 1,518,000 5: 740,000 960,000 1,901,000 6: 725,000 975,000 1,890,000 7: 688,000 1,212,000 1,720,000 8: 777,000 1,301,000 1,677,000 ======================================= 5,602,000 9,592,000 13,046,000 Each point update is multiplied by the handicap, to avoid any "jumps" in the race points, at the end of a day. (race folding points) Team 1: Ants Team 2: Bats Team 3: Cats ========================================================================================== Points updates: Raw points x handicap = race points 1: 600k x 12/5 = 1,440,000 1.2M x 12/10 = 1,440,000 1,400,000 2: 650k x 12/5 = 1,560,000 1.225M x 12/10 = 1,470,000 1,430,000 3: 712k x 12/5 = 1,708,800 1.33M x 12/10 = 1,596,000 1,510,000 4: 710k x 12/5 = 1,704,000 1.389M x 12/10 = 1,668,000 1,518,000 5: 740k x 12/5 = 1,776,000 960k x 12/10 = 1,152,000 1,901,000 6: 725k x 12/5 = 1,740,000 975k x 12/10 = 1,170,000 1,890,000 7: 688k x 12/5 = 1,651,200 1.212M x 12/10 = 1,454,400 1,720,000 8: 777k x 12/5 = 1,864,800 1.301M x 12/10 = 1,561,200 1,677,000 Day #1 Race Point Totals: Team 1: 13,444,800 Team 2: 11,511,600 Team 3: 13,046,000
Which makes perfect sense because -
Team #1's raw points were well above their previous racing average.
Team #2 was below their average racing production, and
Team #3 was just barely above their average racing production.
There are two keys to good handicapping. First, the average used, must be *racing* production or times (whatever you're handicapping). It can't just be regular folding or the horse is just out running for a workout. Otherwise when the race starts, you'll get the shock of your life (as we saw two years ago), when the HWC and NCIX teams raced as one team!
This is the handicapping I'm proposing for the CC this year.Last edited by Adak; 02-20-13 at 11:23 AM.

I set up a notice regarding the change of captain's forum, in the old forum, with the new forum url, and instructions to give their username to Axipher at OCN, in the CC 2013 discussion thread.
Should have no problems finding their way there. If you would like to express your sympathies for Adak's passing, please feel free to post in his memorial thread: Adak has passed away.

It seems we aren't talking again
there are no post in the new Captains threads
only 4 teams signed in? WOW - not even 1/2 the teams have signed up for the new Captains forum
Adak will you please post your formula and idea in the forum
maybe add last years - copy paste it from old Captains forum
with a caveat that conversion is gone(under the los of using chimp names) and we alter the formula to just growth/points
I still like your idea but Id like to have as many ideas present for the teams to consider
seems we are gonna put are feet to the pedal again

I was going to post about the chimp challenge until I seen this!
I don't fold usually as electric bills in the UK are very high. But with some heads up and clear instructions hopefully I will be ready from day 1 this year.
I would love to fold 24/7 but it's just to expensive. But a week or two to join the team won't hurt much! I will be more than happy to overclock my file server. It sits idle most of the time!
I have as follows:
1x 2500k @4.8Ghz
1x GTX 460 heavily overclocked
1x Q6600 (file server @ stock) Can push to around 3.6Ghz)
1x Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz extreme (In a Dell D630 believe it or not, lol)
1x Athlon 215 xII @ 3.6Ghz
1x 3570K @ stock (Dads PC)
1x Radeon 7850 (Dads PC)
Not much I know, if its later than May I should have atleast a 660Ti + the GTX460 in my main rig.
Also, Can an old AMD/Ati 3850 fold?Main System/File Server/IESXi Server

03-12-13, 08:10 AM #32I think not, because PandeLab no longer support AMD 4XXX and earlier cards. And even if it can fold, the old AMD cards produce very little PPD, but need some cpu power to run, thus impacting the CPU performance - so adding old AMD card may not benefit you at all. Also, Can an old AMD/Ati 3850 fold?
PS: Pros can correct me about whether AMD 3XXX are supported by Folding.

Yes, the Vietnam Global Team should be racing in the CC this year. They are already approved and in the Captain's forum today.
All CC Team Captains:
We're behind in our planning for this year's race, so I'm stepping things up:
1) Please visit the Captain's forum at least every 48 hours, to keep updated on the issues being decided. The forum is now working fine, and we definitely need to move forward.
Don't count on updates being posted to individual team folding forums, even this one. You need to be in the Captain's forum, to keep up to date. If you don't vote on an issue, it will NOT be taken as a NO vote.
2) We need your vote on our Starting date and the inclusion of the Vietnam Global Team, into the CC race. Note that Maximum PC Magazine is definitely out of the race this year.
The goal is to have all our high priority issues decided for the race, by Monday, the 18th of March. If you would like to express your sympathies for Adak's passing, please feel free to post in his memorial thread: Adak has passed away.
