New 7870 making sqeeling grinding noises.

Besides that highly irritating noise, the card is running great.

Wondering how long before I should send it back?

Coil whine is normal... "grinding" is not. What is grinding?

Perhaps it is coil whining. Its very similar to the sound my old GTX 285 made. Except that card only did it when I was folding proteins on it, and it was a much higher pitch.

Why doesn't my 6990 do it?

Its coils aren't whining. Perhpa it's made out if better coils or again, just ones that are biy whining.
Fin the offending part and put some clear nail polish on it.
