I'm always astonished by the amount of PPD folks in the top 20 are throwing out. If you guys don't mind me asking, I'm just curious what all do you have to generate such awesome PPD?

I'm curious about things like:

  • What kinds of systems are you running? Multiple 4P? Lots of GPU's? Just tons of desktops? All of the above?
  • Are they your own? Do you have permission from work/school to use desktops or idle servers?
  • Do you host them yourself? Are they spread out? At a datacenter?
  • What does your electric bill look like?

No real reason behind these questions, just curious and want to nerd out. :bday: I'm sure everyone has a unique combo of machines contributing.

Cheers!

I'm running 3x 3930K machines, 2 of them with dual 7970's, one with a single 7970, and 3x 2600k machines, one with dual 6950's, and one with a single 7970.

Since adding the 3rd 3930k and the AMD cards I've jumped from around 150k to around 250-300k.

These are my work machines which no one minds what I do with. No idea what the electric bill looks like..Thankfully. These machines are nothing compared to the total I'm running though.

Home:
3570K @ 4.5
GTX 660 Ti
i5 2520M

Work:
~13 2500's
2520M
~70 i5 660's
~70 Core2duo's

The work systems are spread out across 4 locations, but mostly concentrated in the 2 of them that are my primary sites. My electric bill is about $70/month. With so many systems, I fold about 10% of our team's WU's.

One 4P "Tanker" gets the vast majority of my points (24/7).
One 2600K (24/7) and
One i7 940 folds about 16 hours a day.

I had to check to see if I was still in the top 20, with all of these Maniacal Teammates!:comp:

So apparently I'm using Stone knives and Bear skins...and getting overtaken fast...or whats in my sig:p. Maybe 80K or so turned off, waiting for a special occasion.:sn:

Proud to be folding with you good folks!

this is some of my stuff, i'm kinda bouncing between team 32 and team 74960 (theraptorpit) right now.
13 dell vostros with intel 2500's running smp4
1 custom build with a intel 2700k @ 4.5ghz and 2 6970 amd gpus
1 custom build fx8120 amd @ 4.0 ghz and 2 7970 amd gpus
4 dell vostros with intel 3570's running smp4
hopefully for chimpchallenge i will push 250k ppd+

Seeing how I have squeaked into the top 20:

1) 3770k + 7970 (main) = 70k
2) 3770 (office) = 20k
3) 3770 (office) = 20k
4) 3770 (office) = 20k
5) 1st gen i5 (office) = 5k
6) i3-3225 (htpc) = 5k
= ~140-150k depending on the day/WUs

will be adding a couple more office 3570/3770 to the mix for the CC assuming they don't get deployed. And a 580 which I should get by the end of the week. Hoping to find another 7970, but for $250 or less that is hard.

This is an interesting thread to see what everybody else is running. I'm not on Team 32 either...I fold for PC Pitstop. I'm first on our team (PPD not overall) but we are a small team of dedicated folders....only about 20 or so. I run quad 6172 opterons at stock that nets about 280-330 PPD depending on the work unit.
