Speeding up my net

I've noticed that when I play StarCraft, I get really bad lag, for a 56k. It just might be my ISP, but is there any way I can speed up the net? Any programs?

A program called Broadband Wizard from kissco makes changing your settings easy. I have cable & found that it didn't do anything for me, but I'm being limited by my ISP, so nothing I do will make it any better. Good Luck!
