External HD with XP OS- possible to use programs??

Curious- I have an old hard drive with Win XP on it. Can I pull that drive, make it an external drive, connect it to my Win7 rig below, and use the programs that are on it ? I have a few programs that I cannot put on Win7.

You can access all the files and folders, but not actually execute and run a program.

Oh crap..that's right. I knew what I wrote sounded wrong. No processor connected to the HD anymore. Jeez. THANKS!!!

Viper, you can use that external to boot from him
