SOLVED Microsoft Update - Net Framework?

It provides security updates and bug fixes. I update mine.
 
to a degree some video card apps use it. I know when I first loaded one of the AMD 13 series drivers on a new install it kept telling me CCC couldn't run without net framework 4.0 once it installed thru updates I no longer got the message. So you never know what exactly uses the net framework unless you dig in to it deeper.

This is the only thing I personally know about I'm sure there are a ton of other things that use net framework
 
If you update it and want to save an image of the OS straight way thereafter, do this first:

Force the installed items to be compiled:
Use DOS to get to the location of ngen.exe
and execute
NGEN queue status
NGEN executequeueditems

The .NET updates will then be compiled, otherwise they'll be compiled each & every time you reimage.
