Very nice shots D_&_B. They look great.

A few more portraits outdoor...

Try and get two "ballerinas" at once. Now that would be something.

Hmmm... I'm not entirely sure that's possible. With the delay between the drops to form the "skirts", I'm not sure there's enough time to get the second one to open before either the spout or the first skirt collapses. I tried tonight for a while, but couldn't get it. I'll keep working on it.

Wow, that's really cool. Care to show your setup?

Sure. Here's the setup I used tonight, with a resulting pic. It varies a little bit from session to session, as I'm still trying things out, and I just don't have the room to leave it set up all the time. There's a bottle of the blue liquid I used just out of frame at the top of the picture above the clamps.

Holy Speedlight Batman!

4 Yongnuo YN560-II. I think they're up to version 4 or 5 now, but I picked these up new on ebay for $220 total. They go down to 1/128 power, which is best for clarity of the drops, but sometimes I use 1/64. Even with 4, its surprising how hard it is to get the lighting even across the whole frame.

Yep, I have one of the Yongnuo YN-565EX II myself. No way am I paying for a Canon when I'm just doing this as a hobby!

Thanks for sharing your setup Dave! You've generated new enthusiasm for my wife. She wants to try this again.

It snowed!
This is one of those times where I wish I had an actual camera. Or at least, how to use the G3's camera better.

We were in downtown this past weekend and it gave me a chance to get the camera out and dust it off. The photos aren't spectacular by any means, but it was fun to get back to shooting. It'll give me a couple days' worth of things to post anyway.

The old capital building where our state house & senate used to meet (...and which was replaced by a 1960's era atrocity). It was just after a parade, so getting more of the building or different angles without pedestrians in the shot was quite difficult.

Likewise, there were parked cars in the way at other angles for this building. It would have been much nicer if I could have been a) elevated and b) could have shot it head-on.

These are the more sub-par shots. Hopefully the others will seem better by comparison. :D

Here are two more from Saturday. The first is a cloth design for sale at the American Indian Festival. Regrettably I couldn't get any good shots of the colorful dancers, but this caught my eye when we were inside the museum.

This is the door the NC Department of Labor building that spoke to me as we walked by.
