Full disclosure, I work for large telco as a technician for our local VHO which provides TV service to our customers. Our IPTV service relies on software called "mediaroom". This software uses multicast packets to transmit video over our FTTN. If you have an IPTV service most likely its mediaroom based.

Here is why this is important:

You used to be able to use an Xbox 360 as a set top box to stream and watch live TV. but if you look now there's a little disclaimer:

AT&T U-verse will discontinue Xbox 360 as a supported U-verse receiver after December 31, 2013.

Now I thought that was because the Xbox 360 was EOL, pretty standard practice, surely there's going to be equivalent support added to the 360 right? Nope it turns out (I just now heard about this) they sold mediaroom. So microsoft no longer has control or interest in supporting the software. So now you most likely will never be able to use the Xbox One as a stand alone set top box which is unbelievably stupid in my opinion.

And now the kicker and the reason for the thread. Who did they sell "mediaroom" to you ask?

Why they sold it to Erricson. Wait Sen you dont mean Sony-Erricson? As in Sony.....? lol yup. And so it begins

since m$ have tried to get the all in 1 box system with the 'one' im sure they have sold mediaroom because they believe it is going to be outdated very shortly.

We will just have to wait and see if they are right!
