hello i have a q9450 at the moment.. just upgraded my gpu from 2x 560ti sli to a 770gtx.. the 770 is on its way (evga sc 770)

my rig is in my sig.. but i was just looking at what i could get out of my 9450 money wise and i saw a mod to be able to use a xeon 771 on my mobo.. i'm thinking about selling my q9450 and getting a xeon to o/c or should i get a much more expensive i5/i7

my current o/c is 3.4 ghz 1600fsb... seeing that the xeons get over 4ghz.. i'm on a evga 780i mobo

There is no point in doing that at all. Save for a more substantial upgrade, namely a new platform.

i'm getting mixed answers on this one, from forum to forum..

how much better would i be to upgrade to a i5 ivy bridge or haswell? which o/cs better?

or is what i have comparable to the i5's for gaming?
