I've read that not all full-tower chassis will fit 4 dual-slot GPUs. And as I'm planning to build a 4-GPU system, this makes purchasing decisions... difficult.

Is there any way to tell if a chassis will fit 4 dual-slot GPUs? (As for the motherboard, I'm probably going to go with Asus Z9PE-D8 WS (SSI EEB form factor, supposedly)

By the number of expansion slots I would imagine...? There should be at least 8 of course.

So, why do you need 4 GPUs? What is this monstrosity (awesome!) for?

I'll fit as many dual slot GPUs as you need ;)

But, on a serious note (seriously, i'll take 4 GPUs, or a new laptop :p) ED pretty much hit it dead on. If you dont plan on using any other PCI slots for a capture card, case light controls, etc. 8 slots is what you're looking for.

Ninja Edit: There are plenty of towers that fit 10 and one i found that even has 12 expansion slots.

10 slots- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147053

They cost a lot more than buying 4 each. He also doesn't mention which cards in the first place. ;)

This is key information that seems to have been overlooked thus far in case recommendations.

That board is not an ATX form factor, so you'll be looking at server-style cases.

Are you attempting to use a tower or rack style?
