Newer monitors these days seem to tout PWM free, why is it important to have ? I was going to get the Dell P2714H but it's not PWM free. So now I'm questioning myself if it's important or not. The 24'' version is PWM free but not the 27'' but I want a 27'' one.

Why is pwm/flicker free monitors suddenly seem like a important feature ?

Because it is cheaper top sell in the long run.
EDIT:
Every LCD upgrade is to make it more and more like CRT. (I prefer LCD myself, but I like cartoonish delineated figures when I game)

pretty sure the flickering causes some people headaches too
