The main features at a glance:

OMV 1.0 is based on Debian 7 Wheezy
Better support for weaker systems (i.e. Raspberry Pi, Cubieboard, Cubox, etc)
Nginx (instead of Apache2) for the WebGUI
Dashboard with support for widgets
Systems can be put into standby mode
Improved infrastructure for plug-ins

Interesting... I have never been one to use NAS type stuff. I prefer to "roll my own". I played around with the demo, there is just something about the UI I am not crazy about. I am more likely to put my trust in something like Freenas than OMV but its nice to see some competition in the space

I've tried Freenas and I just doesn't feel right, I can't explain it.
Chucked OMV on a N54L (4GB/12TB) and it's been flawless.

The guys over at The Linux Action Show reviewed it last week.
