Hi Folks!

Got an e8400 es running decently yesterday. Didn't push it too hard (max vcore of 1.7v) but now that I completed most of the 2d's, figure that next time I get it running cold want to max it out or kill it trying. Think I'd be willing to go as high as 1.95-2v under the cascade.

Here are my current better runs with the chip:

Not at home so don't have all my settings but most are still on auto. Key voltages for those subs are:
1.675-1.7v vcore
1.7v pll
1.48v vtt
1.63v vNB (it's still pretty cool to the touch, could add water if needed)

Could use thoughts for nb gtl, cpu0 through cpu3 gtls and anything else you folks can think of. Figuring/hoping that adding .1 to .3v should help a bit.

tia!!!!

Ha, so that's where my points have been going, I was surprised at how well the 8400 would clock to be honest. I'm probably not the best for advice on this stuff since I just started benching old Intel, I do know that NB can get hot.

Should pretty much be rinse and repeat just like the e8500 only need higher bus speed

possible NB volts , but you already have it pretty high

pll helped with the q6600, worth a shot, but thinking it will react about the same as the e8500

vtt is cool but also kills Wolfies

Vtt could... pll worked with me for Q9450, but never with duals for w/e reason...PLL ref may help, but I do not recall those values.

As Witchy said, there isn't a difference between the chips outside of the FSB needed to get to the same clocks. Try lowering the multiplier and see if its a FSB limit you are hitting...

System started up cold last night! Bad news is that I wasn't able to get 1 single MHz more out of it. It's definitely not a vcore issue....tried as high as 1.85v (was able to get the 5777 with 1.7v).

Tried increasing/decreasing pll (went as high as 1.90v), tried -30mV and +30 cpu gtl, increase/decrease vNB absolutely nada. My max fsb was 650-ish at low multis but since it hits 640 at 9x it doesn't seem worth dropping to a lower multi.

If noone has other thoughts...will just move on to the next cpu. Maybe this one's at a hard wall?

Thanks for the ideas folks....anything else you can think of?

So you jacked it down to like..... 5 to totally take the CPU speed out of the equation and the 'wall' moved? Then its not the FSB holding you back. Witchy nailed it is my guess.
